OJ Simpson was born on July 9, 1947 in San Francisco, California. When parents separated in 1952, his brother and two sisters were raised by their mother in the Potrero Hill district of San Francisco. He joined a gang called the Persian Warriors when he was 13. He had a successful college football career at USC, and won the Heisman Trophy. He starred in the NFL at running back position for the Buffalo Bills in 1969. Simpson topped 1000 yards rushing five consecutive years and led the National Football League four times. In 1973 he became the first NFL player to rush for over 2,000 yards in a season. In 1979, he retired from the San Francisco 49ers and his entire football career for acting.
Personal Life
On June 24, 1967 OJ married his high school sweet heart, Marguerite L. Whitley, but divorced about 12 years later. They had three children, but Aeren Lashone Simpson drowned in the family swimming pool a month before her second birthday the year OJ and Merguerite divorced. While he had been married to Marguerite, Simpson had met Nicole Brown when she was 17 and married her 6 years after his divorce with his first wife. However, Nicole was always complaining about abuse suffered at the hands of Simpson to her family and friends and put up with it for a year before divorcing him in 1992. Not everything was all right though, and after multiple attempts to reconcile, Nicole and her friend Ronald Goldman were found stabbed to death on June 12, 1994 spurring into action the "Trial of the Century."
O.J.'s Family
Nicole Brown met O.J. Simpson soon after her graduation from high school. The two married soon afterwards on February 2, 1985, and had their first child, Sydney, a few months after their marriage. They also had a son named Justin. O.J. was known to have a temper and was extremely jealous of the attention his wife received from other men. Nicole and O.J. had a rocky marriage and she frequently complained of spousal abuse to friends and family.
They ended their marriage in 1992. The court granted joint custody of Sydney and Justin. They continued to live close to each other in California, and were frequently together at events and activities involving their children. O.J. still cared for Nicole and could not stay away from his ex-wife, at times even stalking her.
